Founder Feature: Deborah Babatunde of MealPedia

Meet Deborah Babatunde, a nutrition graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University, passionate about making nutritious African snacks accessible, tasty, and nostalgic. Through MealPedia, she blends health with heritage.

How does MealPedia celebrate African food culture?

MealPedia was founded to make locally sourced, healthy food and snacks readily available to Nigerians and by extension, Africans everywhere. Our products like kulikuli, cashew nuts, and coconut chips evoke memories of childhood. Many of us grew up snacking on coconut candy or roasting cashew nuts at home. We wanted to preserve these experiences, offering a taste of home to those near and far, while promoting healthier choices

How would you describe MealPedia in one sentence?

Easy, accessible, and guilt-free nutrition on the go

What problem does MealPedia solve for its users?

People often associate healthy eating with blandness, inconvenience, or high cost. At MealPedia, we’re changing that narrative. Our snacks are not only affordable and nutrient-rich, but also incredibly flavorful. Every product is designed to meet your cravings without compromising your health goals. Our growing customer base confirms it we’ve found a way to make healthy food enjoyable and convenient.

What makes MealPedia unique from others?

It’s all in the taste. Our snacks stand out because of the carefully selected ingredients and flavor combinations. Customers love the crunch of our coconut chips and granola, the rich flavor profile of our cashew nuts, and the spicy, satisfying texture of our kulikuli. We pay attention to customer feedback and continuously improve our recipes to meet their expectations. Every bite is a result of thoughtful innovation and a deep understanding of our audience.

What inspired the creation of MealPedia?

My journey began with a desire to help busy people maintain a healthy lifestyle. I started with meal plans but soon realized that clients especially in fast-paced cities like Lagos couldn’t keep up. I considered bulk cooking, but it didn’t excite me. Then a client mentioned how much he snacked and wished there were healthier options. That conversation sparked something. After some research and encouragement from a beloved professor and mentor,

I saw a clear path: to create wholesome snacks that people would love and trust. That’s how MealPedia came to life.
